About US
Bridge is a Kolkata, India, based non-profit that engages with the intersections of Gender & Sexuality, Inclusion, and Economics. We work to build evidence, narratives, networks, capacity and actions towards ensuring opportunities, equality and dignity, for the marginalised LGBTQ+ communities. We focus on the East and North East states of India and its neighbourhood, with emphasis on rural and peri-urban areas.
Recognising the systemic discrimination, lack of access and equal rights for LGBTQ+ communities in our societies, BRIDGE focusses its interventions on gathering broad-based data and evidence on lived realities, and needs of LGBTQ+ communities, initiating public dialogues towards understanding and inclusion, and building community leaderships and capacities. Our aim is to influence policies and practices towards equal rights and inclusion, and enable better livelihoods and wellbeing for the LGBTQ+ communities.
We work with, and through an active network of collaborators, partners, and allies across the eastern and northeastern states of India including queer-trans activists and collectives, researchers, educators, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and civil society, among others.
